I’ve been packing up my apartment the past few days getting ready for a move– listening to Lana Del Rey as I box stuff.
Every time I hear her song, Diet Mountain Dew, it makes me want to dance.  (the script above is a line from the song that I wrote out)
Last night I threw together an outfit that fits the mood of the the song and that parallels Lana’s retro style.
I’m wearing a Banana Republic blouse, American Apparel skirt, Nikes that I laced up my leg like ballet shoes,
and a headband one of my good friends brought back for me from Florence.
The combination of the pattern on my belt and my blouse together makes me so happy. I want to put mismatched patterns everywhere!

Last night, Paige and I went to paint pottery at Glazed Expressions in Lincoln Park.
I painted a serving platter. (because I have absolutely no kitchen stuff– I’ve lived in my apartment for 2 years and I’ve never once turned on my stove)
The pattern I painted was a buncha sloppy concentric circles that looked like a cross section of a tree.
Then I added a neon yellow rim for a fun pop of color.

I got a new Nike dry fit sports bra yesterday that I paired with a Loft dress and my Nike blazers.
The current neon trend and I are friends. Pops of color make the world a better place!

I did a little sneaker hunting in on the ‘L’ today.  (That’s the Chicago train system.)
There were some great kicks– just thought I’d share them with y’all.

Last night I went to a Justin Townes Earle concert with a few friends.
I wore all black and white with my blue chips and an antique metal necklace.
And that’s my friend, Paige, with the awesome outfit.  (I like to call her the accessories queen.)
We went to Stanley’s for some southern comfort food and then headed to the concert. Fun night.

I painted a few panels the other day and I thought it would interesting to plan an outfit that was inspired by them.

I thought it would be fitting to wear a Frida Kahlo temporary tattoo for Cinco de Mayo. She’s one of my favorite Mexican folk artists.
I paired it with an embroidered shirt from Anthropologie and my sweet classic highs.

 
brunch: 2 Sparrows (such a great meal!! bacon maple donut, spicy bloody mary, and salmon benedict)

Last Friday night, I went to the opening night of Typeforce– a show featuring some of Chicago’s typographic all-stars.
It was a great show, with tons of work that pushed the idea of typography into some really fun exploratory areas.
My friend, Jennie Li, had work featured from her blog Shit People Tweet.  (the prints about hipster boobs and Times New Roman)

I wore an interesting outfit that night.
The yellow shirt is a Nike Dry Fit running shirt– which I like so much I refuse to only use it as a workout Tee.
So I paired it with a sweater vest from Express and some Steve Madden boots.
