Here are a couple of photos from Albany all the way to Texas with bright orange dreams and stuff.
So really, tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one precious and wild life?
travel? work? create? have fun? see things differently? sit in a pile of leaves?
life’s short. just do it already.

what to wear to a type show
Last Friday night, I went to the opening night of Typeforce– a show featuring some of Chicago’s typographic all-stars.
It was a great show, with tons of work that pushed the idea of typography into some really fun exploratory areas.
My friend, Jennie Li, had work featured from her blog Shit People Tweet. (the prints about hipster boobs and Times New Roman)
Check out her tumblr! Do it!!
I wore an interesting outfit that night.
The yellow shirt is a Nike Dry Fit running shirt– which I like so much I refuse to only use it as a workout Tee.
So I paired it with a sweater vest from Express and some Steve Madden boots.

making the mud of life into something beautiful
Do you ever get tired of hearing- “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade?”
I know I sure do. And I feel as though I’ve heard that way too much lately.
This has been a really tough week- I’ll spare you the details.
Today I knew I just needed to run and get everything off my brain-frame.
Usually I run on a treadmill…lame…I know all you avid runners are rolling your eyes at me right now.
I’ve just always felt weird running in front of people.
Well- I’m proud to say that I got over that today.
I wanted to be outside where it was beautiful, and not in some stuffy gym.
I ran in downtown Chicago, and it was fantastic!
At the risk of sounding trite, it was really invigorating and even empowering.
It reminded me of this quote by one of my favorite authors:
Life is full of marble and mud.
-Nathaniel Hawthorne
Parts of life are going to be beautiful and parts will be a little more messy.
At least we can run them off…and make something really beautiful in the mud.

a beautiful thing never gives so much pain
I’ve loved Michelangelo- his work and his life story- since I saw the Sistine Chapel when I was in 5th grade.
He accomplished so much in his life and became a renowned artist known for his paintings, sculptures, and writings before he was even 22 years old!
The quote that I drew out above makes me want to see the world around me differently.
Everything is beautiful in its own way; a stop sign, a bunch of buses on a country road, or even a cow in a pasture. Don’t miss out.

Nike Stained Glass Window
This set of pictures was inspired by stained glass windows.
I’ve always loved them, especially rosettas.
For Halloween 2 years ago, I dressed up as a stained glass window. Whata costume!

Insanity
Insanity is relative.
It depends on who has who locked in what cage.-Ray Bradbury
This quote is from one of my favorite authors of all time.
Just a reminder that if you are inspired to do something great- then do it. Even if everyone thinks you’re crazy.
You may be wondering about the absence of a Nike in this post, does a Nike shoelace count?
I think so- especially when it is accompanied by hand drawn type.

for the love of feet
Something I’ve never fully understood is why girls wear shoes that hurt their feet.
I love sneakers. I want to wear them all the time.
Don’t believe the myth that beauty has to be painful.
I illustrated this in India Ink on illustration board.
