a little background

I’ve been a sneakerhead for as
long as I can remember.

My soles have been leaving Nike imprints since childhood…

…and through
some of the most
important days of my life.

I collaged a sneaker atop my graduation hat.

a sneakerhead's dream wedding / for the love of nike

Honestly, I hope Nike will always be a part of my life.

I even got married in a pair a few years ago.

However, I use the term
sneakerhead with reservation.

Most shoe aficionados holding that title
observe different tenents of sneaker culture.

Reasons I’m a conflicted sneakerhead:

  • I don’t have hundreds of pairs of shoes, nor do I want that many. Too many shoes junk up your life.
  • I’m not a conventional hypebeast. You should buy the shoes you like, not the most sought after.
  • I love sneakers because I love to wear them. I don’t want boxes of the never worn piling up in my closet.
  • Sneakers can have an incredibly long lifespan.
I clean them, steam them, and wear them for every mile they offer.
  • Beaters are a big part of my every day. Never throw out a pair because of scuffs or creases. But when their time does come, I always recycle or donate.
  • And I wholeheartedly believe that every purchase should be thought through, with waste and global impact in mind.

It’s also really important to me to make things. Creating visually arresting images, through photography or the handcrafted arts, makes me feel happy and whole. This little website is a place where I can share those creations with you.

If you follow along, you’ll get a front seat to the art.

You can travel with me as I do my best to see the world.

And get a glimpse of my current sneaker obsessions.

If you’d like to stay up to date with my art, travels, or my favorite sneakers…

or check out my official website,
follow along on pinterest,
browse this catalog of portraits.
or read about my Carhartt adventures.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

  1. have you had any joy with the liberty blazers yet ?
i don’t think the ones you show have been released yet by the way.
i live in london not far from liberty. i’m a nike collector too. i’ve been the first customer in for the past two days ( i want the air force 1’s )
would you like me to buy a pair for you and you can pay me back ?
just let me know the size and model and i’ll see what i can do.
    cheers
    mark

    1. Mark! how thoughtful! I’m so appreciative of that!
Were you able to get the Air Force 1’s today? I love those shoes too! Was it a mad house?
I think I’m going to try and order them online when they start selling them.

  2. I love this. I am not sure if I could come up with one brand or item for an entire blog. I am fickle, you see, I bounce around from one thing to the next. I do get excited about art supplies. Paper in particular. Right now I keep telling people about paper made out of stone. I am crazy about it. I grab random people and say ‘Feel this, what do you think this paper is made out of ?’ ‘Stone’ exclaim,’it is made out of stone!’ From their facial expressions, I am starting to realize that not everyone feels the passion for paper that I do.
But even my excitement for stone paper is not a enough for an entire blog.
    Well done, you.

    1. hahaha I love paper too! but I’m no where near the expert that you are.
I want some paper made out of stones though! That’s insane!

  3. Hi! I’m not sure why you’re following me, yet – but if I ever get around to talking about my hubby’s trainer collection, you will love it. I know SFA about sneaks, that’s his gig, but he’s bought me some nice ones over the years (including the rare Nike Air Rift from Japan. He’s all excited telling me about them from the other room right now, since I asked…

    1. hahaa, I love your animal art work! That’s why!
but it’s so great to hear stories like yours. Hahahaa- it’s cool that your husband is into sneakers!
and even cooler that he gets them for you too.

  6. I wore Nikes before Nikes were cool…I worked my butt off at countless babysitting jobs just to get a new pair for school every year. I never took them off. And they were totally wore out by the beginning of the next school year.

  12. What a cool concept for a blog! Just how many Nike shoes do you own! Would you buy one with sparkles to help dres up your more going out at night outfits? I wouldn’t be suprised if they contact you soon and amd ask to do a feature on you and your Nike blog! I’d hit them up and let them know you exist! 🙂

  13. Just wanted to say thanks for following Just a Small Town Girl! I appreciate it and it means a lot to me!

  14. Hey thanks for following my blog! 🙂 You have a great space here and I can’t wait to see all your nike pics… what I’ve seen so far has been amazing!

  15. Thank you so much for liking my latest post and following my blog! I’ve just looked at some of your photos and feel truly honoured – your photos are wonderful! It’s certainly a big compliment to have someone like you following my blog 🙂

  16. Jennifer,
Thank you for choosing to follow my blog. I do like your free and child-like style. I’ve always been a bit of a jock and fitness freak, so athletic shoes are a given in my closet, although I like desert boots when I’m not working or working out. I have a passion for collecting Olympus cameras and really enjoyed seeing your photographs. I love the POV in many of your shots. Keep up the delightful work.

  18. Hi!
Your blog is sooo amazing! I am totally inspired to completely re-think what I am doing after seeing it! I am chi-town too!

  19. Thanks for following my blog — I’ve had a chance to browse through yours just a little and it’s terrific. Love the passion you have and the fact that your blog is definitely taking the path less traveled. Best of luck! Joy

  20. nike and dresses – love it! i’m game for taking on your passion as one of my challenges. though it will probably involve little feet…

  21. I enjoyed your post about the lonestar state, such varied textures in your photographs! What wordpress format do you use for the side-by-side displays of your photos?

  22. Thanks for visiting The He Said She Said Experience and liking our post about the 2012 Emmy Awards. Thanks for following us, too!
Kari: You’ve got some great outfits and photos. I’m a sneakers girl, too. It’s always nice to meet another sneaker fan 🙂

  23. Thanks for following Le Coeur De La Vie – after visiting your page we are more than happy to return the favor! “Sneakerhead” is funny; not a term I’ve ever heard before! But stay tuned to our blog next week we have a post coming up that will probably be right up your alley. 🙂

  27. thanks for the visit….me, i’ve been rocking nike dunks lo in black & yellow or black & baby blue lately but have been looking desperately for a pair of Nike SB Dunk Mid “Realtree” orange & brown accents..like your style

  28. Thanks for liking and following my blog Jennifer. Personally I prefer walking boots……I wear them everywhere.

  29. Thanks for the follow! I wish I as passionate about Nike as you 🙂 but I only buy a pair rarely because my feet are wide…bummer. I’m currently looking through some of your sites and artwork. Seems like you’re really getting your name and artistic ability out there! Keep it up! I could learn a thing or two.

  30. Thanks you for follow my blog.
I have to confess that I’m adidas lover. But after seeing how you describe your nike. I think I’ll stop by the store to see their new winter collection. In Spain where I live.
    I’ll tell you.

  31. Her Majesty, the Nike Princess:

You sure bring a whole new level of meaning to “liking” something. Your thoughts are expressed through photos and words unlike any other blog I have encountered. You’re a true pioneer because you know how to “just do it”! Okay, you knew I was going to work that in there somehow! Appreciate your following my blog.

    Cheers,

    Doktor Z

  32. Thanks for the follow, and being the first one. Loved your site, great photos! Keep checking in, I should be adding work over the next few days

  33. What sort of work do you do for a living? (In a general, non-intrusive, just curious, it’s none of my business anyway way.) I’m curious because you seem very good with photo, fashion, and lifestyle. Nike should pay you for all the promo you do too.

On a more important note, what specific shoe, ‘cross-training’ type probably, would you recommend for an active but older guy who has a metal plate on his ankle from a skiing accident 18 months ago. Thanks and keep up the good work.

  34. Hi! Thanks for dropping by my blog and following me now. I think this is some kind of destiny or something, ‘cos I’d loved NIKE too. Although nowadays it’s little bit pass tense. I’ve found Puma, and I have couple of pumas now. But maybe this is some kind of omen that I should get 1 or 2 pair of Nikes as well!

  35. You’re probably tired of hearing how wonderful your blog is, how insanely creative you are, how much everybody loves sneakers, blahbity blah blah blah… oh well, that’s just too bad because I’m just here to tell you I love your art work! I love love love your photos!!! You’re so creative 🙂 what an amazing eye for color, balance, line, composition! I really love your portfolio. gosh…. just amazing.
Here’s my sneaker story: I have a pair of old beat up Diesel slip ons that I cant find anywhere anymore, They are my absolute favorite sneakers. And I have no idea what I’ll do when they are finally completely utterly worn out. I just don’t. Any ideas where to find old new stock Diesel sneakers???
    PS- I LOVE YOUR PORTFOLIO

  36. Thank you for following our website and liking it, and bringing us to your wonderful blog.

Keep on visiting often to get your daily dose of technology 🙂

  40. “A lot of people have been asking me why I am writing this blog,
All I can say is that I’m doing what I love- and I’m inviting you along for the ride.”
Perfect explanation. I too have been struggling with why I should be even participating in the blogosphere universe, and I came to a similar conclusion as you. Keep posting, love the pics.

  41. I love your blog! So simple and awesome. I recently went to Seattle too, but my pictures weren’t as sweet as yours! Thanks for the follow!

  43. Jennifer, thanks so much for visiting my site and deciding to follow along. I had to laugh when I got here—I hate shoes. I hate shopping for them, I hate trying them on, I always, always, always end up with ones that don’t fit. I own three pairs of shoes (including flip-flops). So, maybe there are some lessons for me here!

  44. Thanks for visiting my blog and liking some of my work. Just to let you know I have just bought some Nike footwear for my grandson at a cost of £35 per foot! I think it may be your fault, you’re influence is transcontinental!

  45. Ok I wish I had the time to read allll the above! But my mind and my life is suited better for pictures and snipits. I do need the creative spirit in my daily duties,( I am a domestic violence counselor) or life would be a desolate landscape so I hope to laugh and smile with you!

  46. Thanks for following my blog! I’ll make sure to follow you and try to see as much as I can from what you post! I painted some sneakers of my own, now they have little superheroes on them, would you like to see them? I will email you some pics if you are interested. Keep up the good work!

  49. wow! It’s stunning to see somebody so passionate about Nike shoes, like you! If I’d love photography or motion design half the way you do love your shoes, I’d be a rich man 🙂 guess, it’s enough to be just happy 🙂

    Thanks for the follow…
    Blessings ~ Maxi

  54. i love it. short, sharp and to the point. the nike head is amazing and reminds me of my friend beth rhodes who is an amazing doodler with, i think, a very similar style… nice one!

  55. Thanks for the “follow”. Great blog, love your pictures and creativity. My youngest son is a huge Nike fan as well. Keep pedaling.

  56. Jennifer, first: thanks for following my book review blog (FrayedDustjackets); I hope you enjoy it. I am impressed with you energy in keeping several blogs. As for Nike: I tried on a pegasus, because my daughter who is a XC runner swears by them, and thought they felt like slippers they were so comfy. I am trying to get into running at my advanced age (55). I enjoy your blog and am a big fan of carharts as well. Lisa

  57. Hello from a fellow Nike fan. Great job on your blog. Thanks so much for following my photography blog… much appreciated. I was Nike head to toe on my run this morning 🙂

  58. Hi Jennifer, you have a lot of comments here!! Thanks for following my blog, The Hazel Tree. I’ve never come across a blog about trainers before! My new son-in-law got married in a pair of Converse so I can understand the appeal!

Your photography is really awesome and your take on Nike is great! I’m not a sneaker head, but I definitely have a shoe problem. Keep up the good work and I’ll see you around.

  63. Yes it is tasteful. And if I were a foot fetishist I guess I would be in heaven. But shoes….God I hate shoes! I don’t like things on my feet. But this is a very sweet blog, as everyone here has said…so, well, go for it! 🙂

  64. Sneakerhead? Love it!! This is so cool. I thought I was the only woman whose favorite shoes were her sneakers. Sneakers are perfect. If you get married in sneakers, do post a photo, ok?

Thanks for liking my blog today.

    Nia

  65. Oh my! A girl after my own heart! Nikes and art 🙂

I have the most gorgeous Liberty print high heel Nikes I bought just the other day, I had to get them in tan as well which was very naughty but there we go.

Not completely sure why you decided to follow me considering I’m sporadic with my posts and talk about pretty much anything under the sun haha it’s a little “all over the place” but I appreciate the support! Keep up the artistic flow I’m psyched to see where it takes you next 🙂

    -Alex

  76. Used to be a Nike girl myself, till I had my first child and couldn’t fit them on anymore. I went back to my first love – Reebok! Thanks for the visit to my blog. See you around the blogosphere!

  79. You’re passion really gushes through your posts, which are really quirky and fun (basically I like it a lot!)
Yup, you’ve successfully made a fan out of me. ^_^
    MORE! ^_____^

  80. Thanks for the follow! I checked out your blog (I’m the opposite of a sneaker person, haha) and love your photography – visual overload 🙂 Anyways, hi from a new follower!

  81. AnElephantCant help thinking
This is some crazy stuff you have created
    You may be slightly mad
    But please don’t be sad
AnElephant thinks sanity is vastly overrated

  82. Thanks so much for following my eclectic photoblog! I’ve been enjoying yours too. I am hoping that Nike will someday make a pair of girly-pink MaryJane sneakers…

  83. Thanks for the follow, I really appreciate it; you have a fun blog here as well. Glad you’re doing what you enjoy, at least in some outlet. Cheers,
    Brett

  84. It is so important to do what you are passionate about. You have no idea how many times I am asked why I specialize in a story about the past. They think I’m living in the past, but actually it is what keeps me anchored to the present.

  85. Thanks so much for following my blog, Tide Line Still Life. I really appreciate it, and hope that I can continue to bring you images that you enjoy. Best, Maggie

  86. Firstly, thank you for the follow [but I seriously doubt that you will have the time to read my stuff, but I appreciate the thought].
Secondly, your blog has so much life I nearly passed out…… I’m slightly ancient and it’s early in my morning!
Thirdly….. I’ve been wearing Asics since the 70s. Back then they were known as Tiger. I wear them because they are excellent and I used to do a lot of running and playing/refereeing basketball [now, not so much]. These days I do a bit of running but mostly I do a heap of walking [two dogs in my life].
I even have all black ones for formal occasions!
Love your passion and thank you for dropping by,
    Terry

  87. Hi Jennifer,

  89. Can’t think of a better reason to be blogging than for the love of what you do! Thanks for following my blog, it’s much appreciated 🙂

  90. Thanks for the follow! I am rather anti-nike, in part due to the high price tag, but maybe you can make me a convert lol 🙂 Take care and I look forward to reading more of your posts as time permits!

  93. Hi there!! I love Nike, too! I’m more of a gym rat than a sneaker head, but they fall in the same general category, I think! I love your blog – I’ll be stopping by, now that I’ve gotten to know you. Thanks for the follow!!
    xo, samara

  94. Thanks for visiting my blog. Look forward to seeing your future posts. By the way, I know what you mean about sneakers, or trainers as we say here in England, I have a thing for Converse. B.K

  95. Thanks for the follow and your blog has been an, uh, an exotic one. Dig it. I will have to show my friend who is a Vans fiend. Well, not a fiend but rather a deranged Vans freak with obsessive hysteria.

  96. Thank you for following my blog. I’ve taken some time to look around yours and enjoyed what I saw. I’m not a Nike head but I do wear them on occasion 🙂

  97. Thank you so much for following me 🙂 Your blog is stunning. Can’t wait to check out the great posts in the future. Have an awesome day!

  98. Oh how I can so relate. If the golden goose laid it’s golden egg at my door I would by a pair of shoes/sneaks a day! You rock. Thank you for sharing you with us here on WordPress. Best, j

  99. You’re such a beautiful and amazing person Jennifer. We need more people like you in the world who’s paying it forward with motivation rather than money. Stay true, thank YOU! 🙂
