It’s well known that the people of Chicago love St. Patrick’s Day. This was my first year to experience it– and it sure was an experience! I started off the day watching the dying of the river. It’s pretty nuts. They dump in a ton of this orange powder and it turns the river bright green. Downtown was packed with people- decked out in holiday apparel.
Then I headed down to Lincoln Park for some green beer and dinosaur chicken nuggets at Kirkwoods. YUM! The next stop was a potluck at my friend’s apartment where we hung out on the rooftop. (The view was amazing!) It was a beautiful day- almost 80 degrees and sunny!
We were up to a bit more shenanigans — bar hopping and eating good food. It was a fun day full of green beer, Guinness, Smithwicks, bacon flights, and watching basketball. (way to go Baylor, by the way!) At the end of the night, we went to Cookie Bar and I got a vegan donut. It was delicious. All in all, it was a great St. Patrick’s Day!
(I wore a pair of Nike blazers, green jeans from Anthropologie, crop top from Urban Outfitters, a mesh shirt from Express, blinking four leafed clover earrings, and an Irish flag tattoo.)
i do enjoy seeing your pictures. congrats for the stunning shots and insight 🙂

I TOTALLY love the Green River pictures and the Green Beer looks pretty Tasty too. I remember leaving High School “a bit early” LOL one day to go to the Chicago SPD parade. Wow! it sure was fun! Was exactly like Ferris Bueller makes it out to be! Totally Fun, Good Times. Wish I could have been at it. Thanks again for the Awesome Green River pictures!!!
The green river is so great!
I’m from Texas originally- and we never really did stuff for St. Patrick’s day.
Makes me wish I grew up with it.
