And now we continue the Irish Adventure to Galway. To be honest, it felt like a blur. Despite what the pictures show below, we caught a lot of rain. And when in Ireland, the indoor entertainment is of course having a pint or two…The first night, we made friends with a local couple at a bar and spent the entire night laughing and guzzling down beer.
Our hotel was right on the edge of Latin Quarter. Shop after shop along quaint cobblestone streets make you feel like you’re time traveling to the past. Since we were right on the bay, we had some very fresh Galway Bay oysters.
That brings me to another point, before our trip began, people warned us that we wouldn’t love the food. Boy were they wrong. Irish breakfast is one of the best meals on the planet! I could eat it every day.
Since we were driving a rental car around the country, we got to listen to Irish radio. That was so fun! There were entirely Gaelic stations and local news. That week the World Health Organization’s study about bacon causing cancer was revealed. Eamon and I adored the reactions we witnessed through the airwaves. It was much different to the gloom and doom way it was reported in the US. Needless to say, we still ate bacon on the rest of our trip.
Stay tuned, I’ll show you around Doolin next.
