If you know me, you might think that the last thing I would have worn to my own wedding was a traditional wedding dress. In fact, a few years ago, I probably would have said the very same thing. The truth is that I didn’t have any idea what I wanted to wear until I started trying things on. After I got my hands on a piece of work by Ines Di Santo, I knew I wanted to wear some of her handiwork. She rocks. Take a look at her collections here.
I also knew I wanted to add in pops of blue to my outfit to compliment my sapphire engagement ring. I bought several different pairs of earrings, but didn’t fall in love with any of them–that is until 3 days before my wedding. Thank goodness for overnight delivery from Amazon! I spotted these dangly beauties by Spanish jewelry designer, Miguel Ases. Get a load of his other work here.
What I think we all assumed correctly that I’d wear a sweet pair of kicks on my wedding wedding day, and that I did indeed! Get a load of these beautiful Sky Hi Nike Wedges. They were comfy to wear the entire day, which incredibly important. The last thing you’ll want to be thinking about is your aching feet during the festivities.
After seeing Edmund Charles Tarbell’s painting of The Blue Veil many years ago, I knew that was exactly what I wanted to wear–a blue veil. Not just any would do, it needed to be a dramatic cathedral length. I spent hours scouring the internet for one, but with no success. So I headed down to Weddings 826 to have them make one for me. I absolutely love how it turned out.
The final accessory every bride is expected to have is a bouquet. I thought about going without one, but then I realized my hands might be awkward. So I set about making a bundle of something all on my own. Take a closer look at what I came up with here. It is constructed out of hand-folded origami shapes and flower cake toppers from BHLDN.

I also took a few photos to capture how my atypical sneaker wedges complimented my dress. Whatcha think?! (click on the images to see them in a larger format)
