When we first landed in New Zealand, we rented a car in Auckland, drove all around the North Island, took the ferry to the South Island, explored there, and eventually took the ferry back north. Throughout our travels, most of the locals told us to avoid Christchurch. The area has been ravaged by several earthquakes and the aftermath is heartbreaking. So many people warned us against it, it peaked our interest. We went, and we loved it. Yes, it was sad to see such destruction–but at the same time it felt inspiring. The Christchurchers have a real fight in them. The city is rebuilding, it is colorful and doused in creativity. I hope to return someday and see how far you’ve come.

As I mentioned above, I really enjoyed Christchurch. What a city with strong folks! Your resilience and creativity is so fun to be a part of.
