On the drive back from Brugge to Brussels, we randomly stopped in Ghent. This charming city is the 2nd largest city in the country. Much of the Medieval architecture still stands, a testament to its golden age. If we had planned better, I would have allotted more time there, but I was happy to wander around the streets for a few hours and eat a chocolate covered Belgian waffle or two. Sometimes traveling gives you little gifts you weren’t planning for. Ghent turned out to be one of them. Such a happy surprise pitstop.
“I have wandered all my life and I have also traveled; the difference between the two being this, that we wander for distraction but we travel for fulfillment.” -Hilaire Belloc
