If you’ve ever been to The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, you know they’re photo nazis there.
I managed to sneak a few illegal pictures on my phone. (The trick is to pretend that you’re texting.)
There was so much to see! It’s the largest US museum that’s dedicated to a single artist.
Andy Warhola–not a typo, that’s his birth name–was born and raised in Pittsburgh.
He worked in all forms of media: painting, printmaking, photography, drawing, silk screening, sculpture, film, and music.
Amazingly talented and highly controversial.
Take a second and think about how his art has affected you.
Good one! I spent my junior high years in Pittsburgh and I didn’t know Andy Warhola was from there. I must stop back sometime and see the museum.
He was a great artist and I think he’ll forever be a huge part of pop culture!
Wow, you managed to take some pretty effective pics, well done!
Andy Warhol was a great Artist!! Never been to the Museum but I would love to!!greats, b.
since I went to school in Pittsburgh and worked at another Carnegie museum, I spent many an afternoon strolling through this museum and really miss it (and my employee discount at the gift shop). Warhol and his perspectives on life are endlessly fascinating. I recommend reading his book The Philosophy of Andy Warhol. so interesting!
thank you so much for the recommendation! I’ll definitely have to check it out.
I would spend my whole pay check in that museum shop! AH!
There is so much cool stuff in there!
I was there! Great museum. Architecture is also very nice. I remember I could only take a picture in the men’s room, which btw had interesting design. 🙂
it did?! what was it?
I found some photo’s (this is from before the digital revolution!). The design is not very spectacular, but just nice (that is, if you know what they normally look like). See http://100meterijs.wordpress.com/2013/09/23/andy-warhol-from-the-old-box/.
Keep up the blog, I like it.
HAHAHA! I love it. Thanks for finding that. Interesting to see it!
I learned about Warhol and Lichtenstein in my first real art class (middle school). Loved them ever since.
I like how you pretended to text and managed to get some really great photos instead of finger bombs.
hahaha— trust me, there were a ton of finger bombs too!
Hi and thanks for the follow! As coincidence would have it, I grew up in Pittsburgh, although no one has started a museum there in my honor. Go figure! Andy had a little know younger brother, Pandy Warhol, who also became an artist. The things you find out on the internet.
interesting! I never knew that!
Andy is one of my favorite artists when I was in New York, I wen to see some of his works and was amazed by his creativity.
he was such a talented artist! I totally agree!
