Where do you even begin when talking about the Johnston Canyon trail in Banff? This place is a must see. Not only is the path itself remarkable, but the views are stunning, and the hike is simple. Somehow some amazing welders and engineers came up with a way to fix a sidewalk along the side of this giant canyon. There are sections when you are walking directly above the surging waters below.
As you hike, you pass waterfall after waterfall. The limestone walls are brilliantly colored with moss, contrasted against the vibrant blues of the glacial water trickling below. There are caves and giant beautiful rocks scattered throughout the forests.
I even off-roaded a bit and made my way into a cave under a waterfall (see the last 3 pictures). It was so peaceful and I felt such a sense of wonder–you know–the type that makes you want to keep wandering just to see what you’ll find.
