We are a species made up of paradoxes and contradictions. There is more than one story to every person, life, and situation. You may think it’s a bit of a stretch, but I feel the same way about personal style. Think about your personality, your likes, and your dislikes. If your personal style reflects who you are, then there is bound to be incongruence somewhere in the mix. You may be an avid football fan who has an apartment covered in pink fluff and lace. Or you could love to dress super feminine, but throw in punk flairs here and there.
The second you condemn what you wear to a single style, things get boring really fast. It’s a snooze-fest when an outfit follows a cookie cutter template for the final vision. You wind up looking like you bought a cheap costume from Spirit Halloween and feeling as though you didn’t put any of yourself into your clothing. The trick to an interesting ensemble is finding the perfect balance and dichotomy of the items in your wardrobe.
One of my favorite genres in my personal style is classic with a twist of quirky. The thing to love about classic items is that they are in style for ever. You can drop a bit more $$$ on these items because you can keep them around longer. The Ravel shirt I’m wearing above is something I’ve had in my closet since high school, and I think it’s still current to this day. I also love that it makes me feel like I just popped out of an episode of the Jetsons. (and no I’m not embarrassed to admit that I’ve had that top for 6 years) The modern bootcut slacks and wool hat I paired with the Ravel shirt lend themselves to a contemporary take on classic items. Throw in the Nike Liberty hidden wedge sneaker and you have the perfect amount of quirkiness. (my outfit: Ravel top, Gap pants, Marica Moran earrings, Bettina hat from Anthropologie, and Nike Liberty sneaker wedges)
I combined the photos of my apartment with this outfit in particular to show how a mess of eclectic items can come together to represent your personality. Take a closer look at the odds and ends that cover my shelves and walls to see how well diverse objects can flow together.
Your blog has such a cool concept! I’m following now, can’t wait to see whats next! 🙂
What a great blog!! I love the way you put this together 🙂
Love those sky highs! I too have clothes from 6 years ago (if not more) haha. You’re right; as long as pieces are good quality and not super trendy, they won’t look dated for a long while.

Your photos are really beautiful, I love the sequencing of them.
Love your style and your kicks! I am also a big fan of mixing eclectic items. For instance, in my living room, I have a mirror from Morocco, a modern couch, an old window pane from the flea market hanging on my wall, as well as pink and brown styrofoam squares on the floor, a princess car, a miniature stroller and the pieces of 7 different puzzles spread around.

Sassy kicks 🙂
Really cool discovering your blog – big thanks for liking my post on our brand new blog and bringing it to my attention!
I’ve got the same Liberty x Nike hi-tops and am absolutely in love with them. Although I live in London I bizarrely snapped them up in Athens!
Quirky mix of sneakers and fashion and deco you’ve got going, particularly loving the interior pics of course 🙂

thanks so much! 🙂
Thanks for stopping by my blog. The black and white images here are GORGEOUS! Also, I’m curious, what got you into likeing Nike? 🙂
why thank you.
I guess my love for Nike came at such a young age…
that it’s hard for me to remember exactly why.
I grew up a major tomboy, so anything sporty made me very happy.
Nike has always had a great mix of classic retro sporty and crazy, ingenuous designs.
I think I was destined to fall for their good looks and charm. 🙂
Lovely 🙂

I love your eyeliner. That style was my daydream yesterday, but in a medium brown. I wear thinner winged liner often; need thicker!
These photos are amazing!
