Toto, I have a feeling we’re not in Chicago anymore.
That’s right, folks. I made the move to Kansas City, MO. So far it’s been a blast with all the concerts, bike rides, breweries, farmers’ markets, and First Fridays. Get a feel for this mid-sized city as you scroll through the photos below. And if you’re already familiar with the area, give me tips on what to do there next.
Cheers!
Wow. Quite a change. I mean, from your photos Kansas City looks cool, but there’s no place like Chicago. Do they have much art in Kansas City?
The shuttlecock on the lawn is in front of the large Nelson-Atkins Art Museum. The small but quality Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art is right behind it.
Thanks for the info. Is the shuttlecock an Oldenburg?
I had to google it, but it looks like it is: http://www.atlasobscura.com/places/world-s-largest-shuttlecocks. Way to go!
Thanks for checking. I thought I had seen them in an Oldenburg catalogue a while ago.
Great memory!
I need to visit the Kemper! I’ve seen pictures but I have yet to go. Thanks, John!
It is quite the change, but I honestly haven’t missed Chicago very much. That seems so strange to me after living there for 7 years. I miss my friends of course–but life goes on and it’s busier than ever! There is a ton of art in Kansas City and all the museums are free! Hopefully I’ll get back to Chicago soon for a visit–but i insist on only going when it’s warm. haha!
M’lady is from Independence and I visit once or twice a year. You’ll eventually shop and see the Christmas lights (catch the first lighting) at The Plaza. The Arabia Museum is interesting, as is the National Museum of Toys and Miniatures. The jazz museum is next to the Negro League Baseball museum. There are good restaurants all over the city, including the Overland Park area. REAL BBQ. Catch a Chiefs and a Royals game too, of course. Concerts, clubs, oh yeah. K.C. has come a long way baby.
Perfect! Thanks for all the tips! I’m loving it.
Love all the photos!
Please could anyone enlighten me on First Fridays and getting reblogs, I’m a five day old blogger and I need help on the terms. Thanks! Sorry Jennifer if this comment looks like spam… I just really need help
Hey there, you don’t look like spam to me 😉
On the first Friday of every month, people gather at all the art galleries and restaurants in Crossroads. Street vendors and food trucks are out selling their wares. It’s really fun and pretty hectic.
Welcome to the blogging world! As far as getting reblogs, I’m not sure what advice I would give. I’ll tell you what I try to do though: post about what your passions with passion and people will be drawn to it. Thanks for stopping by and good luck to you.
Awe, thank you so much! I couldn’t even remember I commented this☺☺
There are so many things to do, and the locals are so nice, but the chaos isn’t like that of Chicago or some other bigger cities which help KC continue to grow in popularity. Home sweet home!
Absolutely. I can’t get over that you can park in front of wherever you’re going with such ease–and that there is no traffic. Can’t wait to get more KC experiences under my belt.
Great pictures! Welcome to Kansas City.
You got some great shots of our city! How do you like it so far?
Love it! still on the hunt for restaurants, art, and breweries. Let me know if I missed any of your favorites!
You make Kansas City look like a great place. Beautiful pictures!
thanks so much, Ben! It is!
I need to go and take some pictures of Christmas lights at Union Station or something, Thanks for reminding me in a roundabout way lol.
haha! yes!! I need to do that too!
