Solar Eclipse 2017

I found myself lucky enough to live in the path of totality of the solar eclipse that swept across the US last week. It was one of the most beautiful sites I’ve ever seen. The lighting dimmed, the temperature dropped, and my skin crawled with excitement.

Those few seconds, as the moon completely blocked the sun, ticked by slowly. I did my best to take a mental picture so I’d never forget what my eyes saw. The photos I captured came out much different that what I actually witnessed. Still, I’d love for you to take a look and see what you think.

Take note of the dramatic lighting cast on Kansas City.

Here’s a time lapse of how dark the the city became while the sun disappeared. It was such an eerie feeling as the street lights turned on just past noon.

In honor of the black out of the sun, I wore an all black pair of Nike Air Max sneakers. I also fancy thinking that their texture is quite moon-surface-esque.
