Y’all, New Zealand is one of the most remarkable places on earth. Stay tuned as I take you on a whirlwind tour of the North and South Island. Trust me, you’re gonna love it. I spent less than 24 hours in Auckland. For New Zealand, it’s a very urban area–the largest in the country to be exact. Here were a few of the things I did there: Depot Eatery (with the best oysters on earth) Sky Tower Observation Tower (for […]
I found myself lucky enough to live in the path of totality of the solar eclipse that swept across the US last week. It was one of the most beautiful sites I’ve ever seen. The lighting dimmed, the temperature dropped, and my skin crawled with excitement. Those few seconds, as the moon completely blocked the sun, ticked by slowly. I did my best to take a mental picture so I’d never forget what my eyes saw. The photos I captured […]
Pilsen is quite possibly my favorite Chicago neighborhood. There is a large hispanic presence in the area–creating a colorful vibe from street to street. There are murals and art instillations everywhere you look. If you’re going to spend the afternoon in the area, here are a few hot spots: La Vaca Margarita Bar: grab a drink and chill on the patio walk along Halsted and go into the art studios along the way grab a meat pie or scotch egg at Pleasant […]
Sadly our return to Dublin draws an end to our Ireland travels. But I’ve got a feeling I’ll be back soon. This endearing country reminded me a lot of Chicago. It’s so chill. The people are sweet and ready to hang. Everyone just wants good food and good booze. I can sympathize! Then add on the nearness to nature. You feel like you could drive a good 30 minutes and find yourself completely alone in the countryside, just in time to […]
I wish I could eat the most important meal of the day in the heavens every morning. The Skydeck at Willis Tower lets you have your breakfast in the sky. Crazy, huh? There you are, alone and hanging off a glass edge, 103 floors up as you enjoy a buttered biscuit. It might have been in the middle of a snowstorm, but it was beautiful nonetheless. You can see straight down to the tiny speck people, barreling through the snow. Gotta love Chicago!
Maybe you got to see my post from earlier this week, Discovering Vancouver. Those shots were taken with my Canon 5d. One thing I’ve found in my travels is that when you walk around a new city with a giant camera around your neck–the city presents itself to you differently. When I just walk around with my phone as my camera, there is a such a different vibe. The photos above were all taken with my way outta date iphone. Makes […]
It finally happened. I made it to Canada, Vancouver to be exact. It was beautiful and so much bigger than I expected. In fact, it reminded me of Seattle with the architecture, well designed little shops, nearness to nature, and unfortunately the prevalence of homeless people. Even after five days of exploring, I saw so little of this great city that I’m already planning on a return trip. Similar to other great cities, Vancouver is sectioned into neighborhoods. Each one has its own […]
This was the first time I’ve spent much time in Brooklyn. Ya know, it feels a lot like Chicago (with a great bonus view of Manhattan). That being said, I really enjoyed it! On this trip, I busted out my Winter Roshes and a Nike Dry Fit Hoodie.
I have thus declared October my adventure month of 2015. I’ll be traveling so much that I want to soak up what little time I have in Chicago. It’s been quite lovely here–I just had to share these shots with you. Now off I go! (p.s. Happy 500th Post from for-the-love-of-nike!!!!!)
