I love looking back at the year. What can make you more grateful and nostalgic than a little reflection on what you’ve been through and accomplished alongside the folks that fill up your life with all that matters. This year has been a crazy one for sure. We moved from Chicago to Kansas City. We traveled the world—took helicopters and jet boats, fed kangaroos, and cuddled koalas. We celebrated with friends as we marched in a very New Orleans Second […]
If you know me, you know I’m a huge fan of folding thousands and thousands of tiny little shapes. To celebrate my best friend Liz on her 30th birthday, we did a very colorful photoshoot with an overdose of chocolate cake. Love you, Lizzie. Thanks for being such a good sport. Little do you know, I’ve already started planning just what we’ll be up to on your 40th. Check out my etsy shop if you’d like to recreate this insanity […]
From San Francisco to Fort Jones, CA–it was a beautiful road trip. I spent the first 24 hours in the bay area. Here are a few of the joints I hit up: Park Central Hotel–talk about a room with a hell of a view. I could see the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and Coit Tower from my bed! Dandelion Chocolate Coffee–where you can grab a cup a joe and something sweet to nibble on Brenda’s French Soul Food–a New Orleans […]
Freiburg is a sweet little German city. This medieval town at the edge of the Black Forest leads the way in Germany’s green movement. Take note of the strange gutters on the streets. They are not meant for sewage, but to cool the city down during the warm summer months, fight fires, and water the animals. Freiburg also has the longest running cable car in the country. Check out the Hausbrauerei Feierling or the Münsterplatz. (and if you order a salad, you may […]
Y’all–it’s my birthday! and birthdays are the best days and the best days call for the best sneakers, so I’m wearing my wedding sneakers (just like I did last year). When I was a kid, I used to dread getting older. If only I could go back in time and clue little Jenny in on a few things: Being grown up is awesome. You get to eat as much candy as you want, buy all the sneakers your little heart desires, and […]
Chicago’s Air and Water Show was this past weekend–and it was fantastic as always. This year’s headliners were the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds the F-35 Heritage Flight. The show has been around for 57 years. Back then, the budget was only $88. I’d love to know what the total cost is now that Shell is footing the bill. There is nothing like watching some amazing stunts while gazing at the city that you love.
Pilsen is quite possibly my favorite Chicago neighborhood. There is a large hispanic presence in the area–creating a colorful vibe from street to street. There are murals and art instillations everywhere you look. If you’re going to spend the afternoon in the area, here are a few hot spots: La Vaca Margarita Bar: grab a drink and chill on the patio walk along Halsted and go into the art studios along the way grab a meat pie or scotch egg at Pleasant […]
I got a new pair of sneakers in the mail yesterday–just in time to whip them out for the 3 day weekend. Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you to the Nike Tennis Classic Ultra Premium (a name that rolls right off the tongue). The metallic leather surface is covered in little slits that give the pair a great texture. I love them. What do you think? Share your thoughts on these little babes. I’d love to hear!
