I’ve been back to Chicago a few times since I moved last year, but this was the first time I got to fully enjoy the new River Walk. I have to say, I’m really impressed. If you’re visiting for the first time, don’t miss out on this new aspect of the city. While you’re at it, hop on the Water Taxi for a quick for a cheap boat ride and an expedited view of the layout.
In the background of the shots above, you can see Centennial Fountain. It’s on the north bank of the Chicago River. It was created in 1989 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago reversing the direction the water flowed originally. It was considered a feat of engineering and a huge boost to the cleanliness of the city. Now, every hour, the fountain spews an arch across the river. It’s a pretty cool sight to see.
Great photos!
Thanks, Chantel!
