I decided to walk around Lincoln Park a little bit to break in my new sneakers. I kinda went houndstooth crazy with my outfit. The t-shit I’m wearing is a boy’s tee that I cropped. I love the acorn necklace I’m wearing…pretty much because I’m obsessed with Peter Pan.
(shirt: Nike, shorts: Victoria’s Secret, tights: Hue, sneakers: Nikes, mismatched earrings: Top Shop)
Awesome stuff, you remind me of a flygirl from In Living Color.
Keep up the good work!
haha! I love that! What a great compliment.
Best compliment I have ever heard too, lol
Fun pix — I love the beer bottle!
I thought that was funny too. Glad you enjoyed the pictures!
I love your top. 🙂
Thanks so much, Cathy. I buy tops in the little boy section a lot.
The designs are so fun and youthful- not to mention- they are so much cheaper too.
I love that, I have a Gap kids denim jacket that is cropped and tight, looks great!
very powerful expressions in all photos. congrats
thanks so much 🙂

I agree with the Flygirl comment. Great look!
Nice shots! Makes me wanna go out with my camera. But it’s too dark here now (Sweden)…
Cool shots, really good blog, well done
Very creative way to show your new breakins’
Awesome street style, you make me think about the 90’s! I personally think that alot of fashion from the 90’s is really good and so underrated! You’re face suits it too!
ah! thank you so much! I’m a 90’s freak!!
Very interesting and unique. Congrats!
Covetting the houndstooth leggings – fabulous!
aren’t they great! I got them at Macy’s in Chicago.
These photos are amazing! I’m uber impressed and congrats on being Freshly Pressed!
thank you so, so much!
Awesome post with a great mix of street and fashion : )
why thank you! I love including atmosphere into my posts. It makes it more interesting (at leas I hope so!).
Really exquisite. I loved the houndstooth tights. Such a fabulous – and often forgotten – texture.
Snazzy! And cool shoes!
Very cool pics 🙂
Fashion has broke free from boundaries, forget boundaries and hello imagination. Awesome photography by the way.
Love it. Leather jackets make everything look even cooler 🙂
I totally agree!
I love the walking through Chicago through your pics. Your posts are colorful and fun.
Great shots. I’m with the other, it’s a great walk through chicago
Good pics. and a cause http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/parenteswithaspergers/
Love the photo essay. Great work with the outfit, I can tell it took some time through the details.
Congratulations on being Freshly Pressed! Are the sneakers the Blue Chips? I’ve been wanting a pair.
thanks! and they sure are- you should get a pair. I love them!
Fascinating Work Love, You Either A Great Photographer Or That Camera You Got Is Off The Hook -,-
haha, maybe a little of both?
Love the look!
Awesome shots, and loving your quirky styling but the Nikes kill it for me. I find their design (not to mention their use of sweatshop labour) jarring. How about something like this (http://www.traidremade.com/collections/shoes) next time?
Oop-just saw your about section-nevermind XD
I definitely can understand where you’re coming from, TJ.
I checked out the site you posted and that’s very cool.
very nice shoes!
Reblogged this on A Teenage Wasteland.
thanks so much for the reblog! 🙂
awesome post, love everything, especially the glasses (is it a pair of glasses you remade?) it looks super cool 🙂
thanks so much! and you’re right- the glasses are just a pair of 3D glasses from the movies that I covered in duct tape and then made some little hearts to go on over the lenses for a pop of color.
Not a big fan of sneakers, but this pictorial is a game changer :-))
Nike and Ray-Ban To Explain French Sex http://wp.me/p25R6x-T
Ummm … it’s “duct tape” … you know, like the kind of tape developed for sealing heating and cooling DUCTS!!!!
smh … goodness.
yep. I know that. but the brand of duct tape I was using was Duck Tape…
That was an awesome post. It held me mesmerized. Keep it up!!! You brought in a class of your own and made it unique.
why thank you 🙂
Great pics!!! well done!
You remind me of myself- getting carried away with the camera and wearing quirky clothes… keep rocking girl! ❤
great gallery of fashion, keep it up..
love love love the houndstooth ❤
Nice pics, u look stunning…………..
Loving the beer
(and the post too :P)
I love the tights with the shorts, and the shirt, and the…..actually, the whole outfit is great. I love the jewelry too, particularly the necklace, that’s pretty cool. The rest of the pics are spectacular too. The picture of the leaves and the one of the bottle are my favorites I think.
I realy like that look!
I love your photos and your nike obsession. thanks for sharing your passion!
Love the acorn necklace. 🙂 I’m a Peter Pan-loving girl too 🙂

Never been to Chicago, except in your beautiful pictures. (Not wanting to sound like a stalker, but I know your mom and dad (and met your sister a few weeks ago at a wedding)! M proudly shouted you had been freshly pressed on FB – congrats!

Who says everything has to match? I love your style! It’s fun and young! Did you get your sneaks broke in?
hahaa not quite yet! but I’m still diligently working on it.
Did you ever see those $5,000 Nikes made out of that artist’s canvas who died? I think they’re on Ebay.
Great photos Well done.
For the love of god, your’e beautiful!
Hate to be unoriginal, but I, too, agree with the Flygirl and beer bottle comments. Epic post.
haha- I’ll take that! I love the Flygirls!
Awesome outfit and photos!
I like the photography here. The detail is wonderful. Thanks for sharing. Connie
Love the order of the pics…says a lot about your fine creativity. Perhaps some of your readers may like a VERY long post i did a couple of years’ ago…it’s a bit about shoes but not as good as this post. I still cannot get the hang of how to make pics appear on my page where I edit. The page always comes out moved around. Thanks! http://wp.me/pDQWN-fv
this is almost why i hate getting new shoes, you have to break them in…i know they look clean and all but that time period sucks trying to make them feel and tie write and walk write…oy vey
check out my blog http://angeleryka.wordpress.com/
Awesome photos! Really digging your top 🙂
This is so cool, Could you give me any feedback for my blog?!!
Love the pictures! How do you get the two pictures side by side? I haven’t figured that out yet but looks great!
I put them together in photoshop before I uploaded them here.
I don’ think you can make them side by side otherwise (but that probably depends on your layout and template)
I am wildly impressed that this outfit works in this context- and it really, really does. Gorgeous shots. -kate
SICK TOP I WANT IT
like how many pairs do you exactly have?nice choice you got there.
Wow. You have impressive photography skills.
LOVE THE PICS!!!
Love the retro look; not something I could pull off on the street but would rock on the set of a beloved 80’s sitcom. Flashback.. Gotta love old-school sneakers. And congrats on making the home page!
A pretty cool ensemble–I like!

I don’t know why I love that picture of dried up leaves and twigs. I just do.
It’s too grungy for me to work it – being short, heels are my friends. You, however, pull it off.

Love the photos. Strangely, my favorite is the rusted gas plate.
Great pics! I wasn’t sure what to expect with the title “Breaking in a New Pair of Shoes”, but I am glad I checked it out. You would fit right in with that great fashion sense here in NYC! Thanks for sharing the pics!
Always enjoy your style. I’ve got a pair of old school Nikes that I absolutely love! Found them at a thrift shop. I’ll take a pic of them and post them on my blog. I’ll let you know once I do!

Love the photos, especially the leaves and the bare branches. Great. Hope you enjoy my latest post – except the birds are rather different in N America than UK. Ho0pe to sort photos soon!
I’m also loving Peter Pan, I think we never grow (lol) !

Well I must say, you are stylin’ missy! All this to go for a walk to break in your shoes? Wow! On top of that, you have to have a photographer in tow to get such great shots…hmmm! I definitely need to rethink my walking wardrobe. Margie
