I made it to Canada, Vancouver to be exact. It was beautiful and so much bigger than I expected. In fact, it reminded me of Seattle with the architecture, well designed little shops, nearness to nature, and unfortunately the prevalence of homeless people. Even after five days of exploring, I saw so little of this great city that I’m already planning on a return trip.

Similar to other great cities, Vancouver is sectioned into neighborhoods. Each one has its own personality. I spend the majority of my time in Gastown, but there are so many more. The people are great. There’s nothing better than hearing a sweet and well-intentioned Canadian “sorry” on the street.

After eating more poutine and fresh salmon than I thought was possible, I made it to a hockey game. I walked around in rain and sunshine (a little more rain than shine at this time of year) and admired the expanse of the city from Stanley Island and The Lookout Tower.

Thanks for the lovely time, Canada. Can’t wait for round two.
