Lollapalooza is mayhem, it’s a madhouse, and every year I find myself back there. This go-round it was 4 days long. I got to see Radiohead, M83, Bastille, Big Grams (Big Boi and Phantogram), Miike Snow, Frightened Rabbit, Leon Bridges, Chris Stapleton, Two Door Cinema Club, St. Lucia, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Silversun Pickups, Haim, Bloc Party, and LCD Soundsystem. That’s right. I said Radiohead. It was my first time seeing them, and I sure as heck hope it’s not my […]
I just got back from spending a weekend in New Orleans. It was my first time in the flavorful city–and I absolutely loved it! There is so much color, grit, smiles, art, good food, and music (not to mention you can roam the streets with the adult beverage of your choice). Let me show you around: Don’t miss out on brunch at Restaurant Stanley, right in the heart of the French Quarter. Get a load of the seafood concoction we enjoyed. While […]
Y’all–it’s my birthday! and birthdays are the best days and the best days call for the best sneakers, so I’m wearing my wedding sneakers (just like I did last year). When I was a kid, I used to dread getting older. If only I could go back in time and clue little Jenny in on a few things: Being grown up is awesome. You get to eat as much candy as you want, buy all the sneakers your little heart desires, and […]
I was so happy to spend last weekend at Rehoboth Beach in Delaware. It’s one of my favorite beaches in the continental US (and it’s only partially because I’m a sucker for a boardwalk with cheesy arcades–woohoo for hoops!). The entire town reeks of an adorable charm that’s sure to tickle your architectural fancy. We went fishing and frequented the Dogfish Head Brewpub. There are also a number of unique little restaurants packed with history (like Gus & Gus or […]
Chicago’s Air and Water Show was this past weekend–and it was fantastic as always. This year’s headliners were the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds the F-35 Heritage Flight. The show has been around for 57 years. Back then, the budget was only $88. I’d love to know what the total cost is now that Shell is footing the bill. There is nothing like watching some amazing stunts while gazing at the city that you love.
As promised, here are a few more of my San Francisco wanderings. The first stop on our 2nd day in the hilly city was China Town. I picked up a few knick knacks and Chinese pastries along the way. Then got a quick breakfast at Taylor Street Coffee Shop (which is really more of a hallway than a restaurant–but so good). We split the Sailor Hash. yum. Next we wandered through Little Italy until we reached Coit Tower. The line was […]
My husband surprised me with a trip to San Francisco last weekend to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. What better gift could a girl ask for?! Over the course of the weekend we ate, drank, and walked (51 miles) to our hearts’ content. We stayed at the Hotel Adagio. This little boutique feeling hotel is owned by Marriott. They were so sweet–giving us a room with a view and a bottle of wine on the house. (Note the giant tiger […]
Oakland is a happening place. In case you haven’t heard of it yet, it’s the trade center of the San Francisco Bay Area. This port city is bustling and rich with history. The Huchiun Indians were the first known inhabitants. Then in the 1700s, the Spanish sailed there a good bit to trade. Around a hundred years or so after that, development began–from the wharf to cable cars. Since then, Oakland has been a leader in technology and is now recognized for the community’s […]
