I love New Years. There are a lot of reasons for all this adoration. You’re surrounded with family and friends, you’re taking a breather from work, and your main focus is a having a blast. A few days after each new year, I go through photos from the year before. I love reliving and remembering each place I visited, all the folks I spent time with, and the crazy things I got to do. I think we can all agree that […]
Over Labor Day weekend, I spent a few days in Austin with my parents to celebrate my Mom’s birthday. For the first few nights, we stayed at a really cool AirBNB on the east side of town. This place was great–well designed and perfect for a weekend get away. Take a look at the gorgeous lamp shade they made out of a tumble weed (pictured below). The last night we stayed at The Westin in downtown. They have one heck of […]
Lollapalooza is mayhem, it’s a madhouse, and every year I find myself back there. This go-round it was 4 days long. I got to see Radiohead, M83, Bastille, Big Grams (Big Boi and Phantogram), Miike Snow, Frightened Rabbit, Leon Bridges, Chris Stapleton, Two Door Cinema Club, St. Lucia, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Silversun Pickups, Haim, Bloc Party, and LCD Soundsystem. That’s right. I said Radiohead. It was my first time seeing them, and I sure as heck hope it’s not my […]

Another year, another Lolla. I have a love/hate relationship with it myself. I’m sure that’s true for many. But hey, where else can you see an endless number of bands in a matter of 3 days? Here are a few things I learned about the festival. Let’s start with the etymology of the word. Lollapalooza (lä-lə-pə-ˈlü-zə) is a noun that was first used in the late 1800s meaning “an extraordinary or unusual thing, person, or event; an exceptional example or […]

Check out this cool Nike sports bra I got the other day! It zips! I paired it with a sweater top from Target, Gianni Bini skirt, Sky High Dunks, and Google Eyes. It’s a great outfit for a stroll in Wicker Park or the Bastille concert I went to that night. (which was awesome, by the way) I’m so ready for Chicago to warm up so I can take more strolls like this.

Ahhh–mixed patterns and sweet classic highs. Yes those are men’s shoes, and I’m proud of it. This photo was snapped just before Pitchfork in 2011. Don’t you love this post-apocalyptic Chicago alley? Good thing I wore my dancing shoes because I got down to Animal Collective that night.
If Chicago was the city it is in the summer all year round, this would be the greatest city on earth. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. We all just say the winter makes you really enjoy those summer days. Well, the warm days are almost over, and I’m eating up as much of the fun while I can. Lollapalooza, one of the coolest outdoor music festivals, was last weekend. I went on Sunday and got to hear some great tunes […]

I went to a Foals concert last Saturday night at the Vic in Chicago. Talk about an insanely good show. Holy Fire is a hell of an album. “My Number” is destined to be a huge hit. My personal favorite is “Bad Habit.” The lead singer is a maniac. He was crowd surfing, still playing his guitar. He scaled walls and even climbed up into one of the box seats. In short, check them out. Get your dance on!
