I’m a big believer in ALWAYS packing in a carryon. Yes, that can be extremely tricky when you’re going somewhere for over a week–but it’s absolutely doable. For my Norwegian adventures, I decided I would bring two pairs of shoes. Both Nikes as you might have guessed–my sweet classic highs and these beauties: The matte grey with a gum bottom held up quite nicely, especially considering that I walked just a little over 180 miles during this trip. The leather […]
HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Lots of skulls and neon orange seem very appropriate today, dontcha think? I’m ready for an overdose of candy and lots of wacky costumes. (My top is from Ann Taylor, the skirt from LOFT, the sneakers are Sweet Classic Highs, and my hair ribbons are actually shoe laces.)
Tinsley House in Bozeman, MT is over 100 years old, and life goes on about as if no time has passed since the day it was built. The entire structure was moved from its original location of Willow Creek so it could be near the Museum of the Rockies. A staff, dressed in the traditional garb of the day, runs the homestead. Fresh pies are baked daily, a metal smith and carpenter are on staff, maintaing the property, and the […]

The Air and Water Show in Chicago is one of the greatest summer events in this grand ol’ city. Pilots perform tricks over Lake Michigan and boats do there thing in the water below. It’s the right time to find your way to a rooftop deck so you can sit back and enjoy, drink beer, and dip your feet in a pool. I wore a child’s Lacoste shirt I bought in a Greek bazaar a few years back (so who […]

Another year, another Lolla. I have a love/hate relationship with it myself. I’m sure that’s true for many. But hey, where else can you see an endless number of bands in a matter of 3 days? Here are a few things I learned about the festival. Let’s start with the etymology of the word. Lollapalooza (lä-lə-pə-ˈlü-zə) is a noun that was first used in the late 1800s meaning “an extraordinary or unusual thing, person, or event; an exceptional example or […]

Happy Fourth of July, y’all! Wrap yourself in an American flag, guzzle down a good brew, and watch the fireworks roar. This year, I’m celebrating in Sea Isle. Sun and sand make everything better. If you’re up to seeing a few of my other patriotic posts, take a look at this crafty gif and this red, white, and blue visor. May your holiday be filled with sea and beer froth alike. Outfit #1: Carhartt Men’s T-Shirt, Nike Shorts, Victoria’s Secret […]

A week at Outer Banks is enough to rejuvenate any soul, even one that’s been freezing in Chicago for far too long. I’ve been trying to travel up a storm lately, and this has been one of my favorite trips. As the Beach Boys would say, “We’ve been having fun all summer long.” And happy day– I have a new favorite Tee. Take a look at Awesome Sports Logos. Read the story behind this Mississippi Middleton Fingers shirt. Irreverent and comfy, just the way I […]
Take a look at the Willamette River, folks! And take a look at the great view it boasts. Since the last few posts have been about Portland, I thought we could go a little deeper and learn some interesting facts about this great city. Here we go! Portland was named by the flip of a coin. If it had landed on the other side, Portland would be known as Boston, Oregon. The largest wilderness park within city limits is Portland’s […]

After my recent helicopter adventure in Chicago, it was time to bring the excitement to the water. A few friends and I gathered for a birthday boat ride up and down the Chicago river, complete with the first cheesecake-stand on a boat. I started off as the captain… but believe it or not… I’m a horrible boat driver. So I relinquished the reins, and I think everyone (myself included) was much more at ease.
