It’s a privilege to enjoy each passing year even more than the one before. That’s always been the case for me, and I hope I never take that feeling for granted. There may come a day it doesn’t feel that way anymore. I never want to feel like I could have or should have done more. For now, I’m willing and able, so I’m trying to undertake as many new adventures as possible. Here’s an account of some of my […]
I love New Years. There are a lot of reasons for all this adoration. You’re surrounded with family and friends, you’re taking a breather from work, and your main focus is a having a blast. A few days after each new year, I go through photos from the year before. I love reliving and remembering each place I visited, all the folks I spent time with, and the crazy things I got to do. I think we can all agree that […]
Lollapalooza is mayhem, it’s a madhouse, and every year I find myself back there. This go-round it was 4 days long. I got to see Radiohead, M83, Bastille, Big Grams (Big Boi and Phantogram), Miike Snow, Frightened Rabbit, Leon Bridges, Chris Stapleton, Two Door Cinema Club, St. Lucia, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Silversun Pickups, Haim, Bloc Party, and LCD Soundsystem. That’s right. I said Radiohead. It was my first time seeing them, and I sure as heck hope it’s not my […]
Another year, another Lolla. I have a love/hate relationship with it myself. I’m sure that’s true for many. But hey, where else can you see an endless number of bands in a matter of 3 days? Here are a few things I learned about the festival. Let’s start with the etymology of the word. Lollapalooza (lä-lə-pə-ˈlü-zə) is a noun that was first used in the late 1800s meaning “an extraordinary or unusual thing, person, or event; an exceptional example or […]

I went to a Foals concert last Saturday night at the Vic in Chicago. Talk about an insanely good show. Holy Fire is a hell of an album. “My Number” is destined to be a huge hit. My personal favorite is “Bad Habit.” The lead singer is a maniac. He was crowd surfing, still playing his guitar. He scaled walls and even climbed up into one of the box seats. In short, check them out. Get your dance on!
I’m a firm believer that the sneaker wedge is the perfect concert-going shoe. It’s comfortable and gives you a few inches of lift to see above the people standing in front of you. All you short girls know what I’m talking about. and VIVA CHICAGO! a wonderland of concerts and live music!
