It recently poured snow in Kansas City a few days ago, giving me my first opportunity to see this little town blanketed in winter goodness. The streets were pretty empty, leaving the snow basically pristine (a sight I rarely ever saw in Chicago). We celebrated the snow-weekend like a couple of no good millennials who pay too much for avocado toast. This particular mouthwatering brunch was at one of my favorite KCMO cafes, Banksia. The owners are from Australia, so yes–this […]
So I was in LA on Monday, enjoying life. That is until I had to fly back to Chicago that night. I went from a blissful 80 degrees to -12 degrees (which was supposedly -52 with the wind chill). Don’t pull out a calculator, your math is right. That’s a 92 degree difference in just a 4 hour flight. It’s amazing what that will do to one’s mood. Needless to say, I still ventured outside, 8 layers deep in clothing, […]

Last week, I spent time in Minneapolis for work. Oh my goodness, it was cold! It got down to -9 degrees. I took off my jacket off for the first few pictures above and almost died. Although the temperatures were harrowing, the city was still quite lovely. I felt as though I was returning to a tropical paradise when I got back to Chicago, and that’s never a good sign. So excited to be headed to Texas soon. Then I’ll really […]

I spent Thanksgiving in Pittsburgh this year. It was chilly and snowy… and I even salted a driveway for the first time in my life. Everyone thought it was funny that I was so enthusiastic about it. I also went to a really great Penguins game on the 27th. (Geno and Sid loved my sneaker wedges as you can see.) What a great way to spend Thanksgiving Eve! Now onwards we march towards Christmas!

What was intended to be a cross-country ski trip turned into a snowshoeing experience. Turns out, when you’re as clumsy as I am, wearing shoes that make your feet bigger isn’t a good game plan. It was a fun trip full of wine, pie, and snow. When winter feels like it just won’t go away, you might as well embrace it.
The bird who wanted summer to come and the rain and snow to leave. (and hopefully summer would bring the 2011 Liberty Nikes print along for the season) I used ink on illustration board for this.
